AMMONITES – BEAUTY PRESSED IN STONE

was part of my bachelors degree in January 2026 and will be screened publically on 15 August 2026 at the Doberg Natural History Museum in Bünde, North Rhine-Westphalia.

The film takes its audience on a journey into the mysterious world of the ammonites. For over 340 million years, these cephalopods formed a fundamental pillar of the ocean’s ecosystems, until they disappeared from the face of the earth along with the dinosaurs. All that remains are the fossils of their shells, which this film showcases in detail. Let us journey back in time together to admire these unique creatures, explore how they lived and evolved, and discover how they are now being brought to light from their sleep lasting millions of years...

This film was produced in collaboration with the special exhibition ‘Ammonite Masterpieces’, Dr René Hoffmann, PhD, Mieke Löw and paleoartist Aldrich Hezekiah, and was conceived as a final-year project for Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.

An international version is currently in production.
